Pine Roehrs

Living Lands Project Coordinator

Area of Expertise: Land trust outreach and needs assessment, Chesapeake Bay Watershed conservation issues, biodiversity conservation challenges on private lands

Pine is primarily responsible for national outreach to and research on land trusts and provides general assistance to the Living Lands Project. Through personal interviews with land trusts, Pine identifies barriers to broader biodiversity conservation on private lands. She helps to tailor the material and services offered by the Living Lands Project to land trusts to ensure that they have the resources they need to effectively incorporate biodiversity restoration, management and protection into their work.

Prior to joining Defenders in 2008, Pine interned at the Open Space Institute in New York City where she was introduced to land conservation work. It was through that opportunity she became inspired by the work of land trusts and acquainted with land use planning and land protection. More recently she worked at the Center for Applied Studies in International Negotiation (CASIN) in Geneva, Switzerland as a research associate for the NGO and Civil Society Program.

Pine completed a Masters in International Relations at Geneva School of Diplomacy in Geneva, Switzerland. She holds a B.A in International Relations from Northeastern University
