Pamela Flick
California Program Coordinator
Areas of Expertise: California condors, human-bear conflict reduction, California and Sierra Nevada conservation issues
Pamela manages a wide variety of responsibilities supporting the program and operations of the California Program Office. She serves as the California Program Director’s liaison to other staff, federal and state agencies, elected officials and their staff, Defenders’ members, and the general public. Her core programmatic issues include California condor conservation and recovery; serving on the Tahoe Council for Wild Bears; public lands management in the Sierra Nevada; increasing public awareness about California’s marine environment and the federally threatened southern sea otter; and protecting amphibians native to the Golden State.
Before joining Defenders of Wildlife in April 2005, Pamela worked to preserve California’s public lands and rivers as Communications Coordinator and Administrative Director for the California Wild Heritage Campaign. Prior to that, she served as the Administrative Director of the Sierra Nevada Forest Protection Campaign. She began her career in environmental conservation with Friends of the River as their Membership Coordinator and Rafting Chapter Assistant.
Pamela graduated summa cum laude from California State University, Sacramento, with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a minor in Biological Sciences. She also earned an A.S. in Biological Sciences and an A.A. in Liberal Studies, both awarded with high honors, from Sierra College. She is originally from Mariposa, California.
