Gina LaRocco Conservation Program Associate


Areas of Expertise: ecosystem services markets, conservation registry, conservation law and policy

Gina is a conservation program associate in Defenders of Wildlife’s Northwest office. She is working to develop market-based conservation incentives, with an eye toward improving the ecological and economic benefits of mitigation programs. She is also the project manager for the Conservation Registry, a database that can record, track and map on-the-ground conservation projects in order to allow a better understanding of where conservation investment is happening across the landscape and whether these efforts are successful.

Prior to her role in Defenders’ Northwest office, Gina worked as a staff attorney in Defenders’ New Mexico office. She worked extensively on species and habitat issues in relation to oil and gas development and other uses on federal public lands, as well as state and local conservation issues.

Gina earned her B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago and Master of Studies in Environmental Law and J.D., cum laude, from Vermont Law School.
